Thanks that was the first part. The lack of a localhost entry in a LV
guest was the other.

For the record I modified the /etc/init.d/postgresql-9.0 script and
commented out the PG_OOM_ADJline.

Then I edited /var/lib/pgsql/data/postgresql.conf and made the
listen_addresses equal to the guests IP.
