lilo has a 'on-next-boot' feature (-R) to
set the boot preference once, didn't find such
a thing for grub ... but although grub is very
nice, it misses some features ...
for example I had to add an option to pass the
selected console (for serial/vga console choice)
to the booting kernel ...
