The same binary is used for X and textmode, therefore it is linked with a
*very* piece of the X libraries to allow to run with both. These will have
to be installed (xbase-common or something). Otherwise you would have to
install 40MBs for the text-version and another 40MB for the X version! ;-)
Certainly in Debian the library that emacs depends on is split out so that
you are installing very little extra indeed. ``Other distributions may not
be quite so advanced''. <duck> :-)
