Our main Winter 2001 session was very successful and resulted in the Nottingham Linux Users Group being named LUG of the Month by UK GNU/Linux Magazine Linux Format. We are continuing last years success by announcing a triple-pack of events for the Winter Season this year.
Organised talks and sessions are 40minutes long (an hour including questions) with the rest of evening devoted to social activities.
NotLUG, the Nottingham Linux Users Group, have announced our Winter 2002 series of professional talks and social evenings. The first session, "Wiring your House for Broadband" will cover connecting together all the computers in a small business or shared flat to allow sharing high-speed broadband internet access and playing games.
Our first talk is designed to coincide with students coming back to University and whom are perhaps moving out of halls into a shared house for the first time. We shall be many of the topic that aren't available elsewhere including what cable to buy, how to wire up actual plugs and networks sockets. We shall also try to an indication of cost and you can save money and increase security by using an old Pentium system to share one broadband connection between several computers and automagical configure computers such as laptop when they are plugged-in without manual configure.
Fun topics will be a who can punch the fastest socket competition for Linux related prizes and learning to make your very own patch (ethernet networking) cable which you can take home at the end of the evening as proof.
