In November 2000, Martin Hamilton from Loughbourgh University--who is best known for his work on the JANET National Web-cache--came to Talk to the Nottingham LUG about security and in doing so formed the first of our yearly winter season sessions.
There was a better attendance at the November meeting, due to Godfrey remembering to post an email reminder, and so a dozen members had an interesting session with Martin from Loughborough University, talking on Unix security.
What started as a straight talk soon turned into a two-way discussion and then an open discussion on trojans, intrusion detection, firewalls and related aspects of security (well, most of the time!).
Those attending found it a very interesting subject, and several who did not have to rush away, continued the discussion in a local hostelry. Martin said the electronic format of his presentation was more interesting still, with links to other places. Judge for yourself when you visit Martin's site.
